Altrusa of Spartanburg

Established in 1962, the Altrusa International Foundation, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) charitable corporation. Contributions are tax deductible under United States regulations governing foundations. The mission of the International Foundation is to improve the economic well-being and quality of life through a commitment to community service and literacy.

In 1990, the Foundation Endowment Fund was established, and the interest income is used to support Altrusa's ASTRA Club Service Awards and the Letha H. Brown Literary Awards. The Foundation also sponsors the Community Leadership Award to recognize the individual achievements of women in volunteer positions.
